Paint.NET Exploration Assignment

I created this image using the Paint brush tool.  Then I used the Rectangle tool to create the squares.  I used a smaller brush width to make the squares get skinnier in the center.  I used the Ellipse (Circle) tool to draw the circle in the center. 

Blog Requirements

Starting today, you will be expected to create a new post in your blog every single day that you are in Photo Art Class.  These will be graded every Friday.  NO EXCUSES. (You cannot write 5 posts on Friday and expect to get your points.)  Each post is worth 5 points, so you will have a total of about 25 points per week (for a normal school week)

It would be a good idea to post your photos to your blog regularly (Everyday is best) It shows the process of your artwork and allows other students to view your work and make comments that might help.

You will be expected to view classmates blogs regularly (links will be added to http://www.crouchphotoart.blogspot.com/ and post at least 1 comment on each student's blog per assignment.  You are expected to comment about their artwork and make suggestions, not just about things going on in class, school, gossip, etc.  These will be graded as well, but I haven't decided on the points it will be worth yet.

Every photo art assignment will be turned in to me using your blog.  You will post each final assignment to the blog and I will grade it from there.  (There will some written work, some worksheets, some emailed assignments too.)

Create Your Blog!

Now, you will create a blog using blogger. Goto http://www.blogger.com/ and follow the directions there to set up a free blog.
You will use this blog as a place to journal, vent about your photography assignments, keep a log of ideas, etc. You will be able to post photos of your work here too eventually. There are a lot of programs out there designed to help you make your blog look cool. :) Explore the Internet (search "blogger templates" and ask me for help if you need it.
http://www.pyzam.com/ is another site to check out. Make sure you check for "blogger templates" as they have other site templates, too.

http://www.deluxetemplates.net/ has some neat stuff, but I've never used it before


You may want to search for other photography or art blogs to get some inspiration!!

Continue Your PowerPoint

Go Go GO!  Keep up the good work on these PowerPoint Presentations. It looks like we will be presenting these on Monday, maybe Tuesday.      

Each Presentation should include the following:

• 1 Title Slide    (with your name & the person's name that you are researching)
• 10 Information Slides
• 5-15 Image Slides   (ALL images used should be cited!)
• 1 Source Slide         (With the website addresses that you used as sources.  DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA.  You just need to write the address, not a full citation)

       
     (NOTE: You may combine info/image onto one slide and it will count as both!)

Tuesday 1/25

First, I need you all to turn in your work from yesterday.  You may finish it now, if needed.

Yesterday I'm not sure if you all had time to fully research the photographers and decide on three possible ones.

So, do that now, if needed.

I have a sign-up sheet for the photographers.  Once you know which one you want to do, you will write your name under the photographer that you want to research.

Then, you may begin working on your PowerPoint Presentation -- more instructions below.

Sorry that I can't be at school today guys!  


You should have completed the Chapter 1 Guided Reading WS.  Then, you will complete the History of Photography WS by searching the Internet for the answers. 


Then, I have something else for you to do!


Your first big assignment in this class is going to be a research project about the History of Photography.  


Eventually, you will be creating a PowerPoint Presentation about one photographer from the list below. 


Today, I just want you to do some research on the names from the list of photographers below.  I will give you some links to websites to check out below and you can also try Googling their names and using Google Images.


(Remember: EVEN THOUGH YOU GOOGLED THEIR NAME, THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT EVERY IMAGE THAT RETURNS IS ONE OF THEIR PHOTOS!! You may have to do a little reading to make sure that it was one of their photographs!)


In conclusion today you will...

1. Spend some time looking at their images & reading some information about the photographers from the links below, 
2. Select THREE different names that you are interested in researching. (I want everyone to do a different photographer, so you may not be able to research your first choice) You will be assigned ONE photographer when I return.
3. Write down the three names on a sheet of paper (along with your name!) and give it to the sub by the end of the class.
4. If you have any extra classtime, I am going to put some links for you to explore below.
