Saving Files

On your laptop's desktop screen, you should see an icon for Paint.NET

Paint.NET is a free program that is available for users to download on the Internet.  It is the program that we will be using to edit our photos and develop our editing skills in this class.  You can also download it to use on a computer at home.

Open the program by double-clicking on the icon from your desktop.

If you have ever played with the program PAINT that comes with every computer, you will see that it is similar (just a lot more complicated).

In the left-hand top corner you should see a TOOLS box.  Try out some different tools to see what you can do.  (Note that you can change Brush width, fill, etc. for certain types of tools.  You will see options at the top of the window.)

You should see a COLORS box in the lower left-hand corner.  You can use this box to change the color or value.  Use the MORE>> button to see more color options.  You can get a more precise color this way.

Now, create a drawing that is 100% your own creation.  Spend about 10-15 minutes working on it.  You must use the paint brush tool, the text tool, at least one of the following (rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse, freeform draw) tools, and the paint bucket tool.  Feel free to try out other tools as well.

When finished, go to File>Save As.. When the window opens, go to your Flash Drive. Right click in the white window and go to NEW>Folder.   Create a new folder titled PhotoArt.
Now, Change the file name of your drawing from Untitled to lastname1.png (ex: Crouch1.png) and save it in the new folder you just created titled PhotoArt.

Next,  go to http://crouchphotoart.weebly.com/

Scroll down until you see where it says TURN IT IN HERE.

Fill out the turn-it-in form.  The assignment name is SAVING FILES.  Click Choose File.  When the window opens, navigate to your PhotoArt folder.  Select your image that is saved as lastname1.png to upload.  Click SUBMIT.    You have now turned in your first assignment for Photo Art!

Here is mine:

I used the paint brush tool, the paint bucket tool, the freeform shape
tool, text, and the ellipse tool.  I also used copy and paste to add multiple arrows.
